Building my first modern rig.

1) I have been planning to assemble myself a powerful desktop. Only recently, I found the chance to do so. So, 2 weeks ago, I went online and investigate a desktop setup that can be considered a beast, yet affordable.
After 3 days of sleepless nights identifying the best combination of hardwares, I finally made my purchase at newegg.

2) ...ジャジャン！！ A week later, these came to my door. =D 5 boxes in total. 1 contains a monitor and 1 contains the tower casing. But I don't really care about those two.

It is the other 3 that I have been waiting for.
Upon unboxing, I get these: MORE BOXES!! but definitely more colourful.

Highlights: *drumrollllll*

CPU: Intel i5 2500K
(CPU type: LGA 1155)

GPU: XFX HD Radeon 6870 CrossFireX ready.

SSD: Crucial M4 64GB (SATAIII)

and the rest,
Motherboard: ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 (for LGA1155)
Heatsink: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus (supports LGA 1155)
Hard disk: Hitachi Desktar 1TB (SATAIII)
RAM: G.Skill 4GBx2 DDR3 1600
PSU: PC Power and Cooling Silencer MK III 500W
Optic Drive: Asus DVD Burner (SATA)
Keyboard/Mouse: Logitech MK120 Bundle

As for the OS, we installed 64bit Windows 7 Professional with free key provided by the University service (thanks to Ammar for the heads up, I wonder why I didn't get any email about that).

3) Assembling the desktop takes about 8 hours of menpower from me and my housemates (thanks to Ammar again, Hafiz, Cimi, and the occasional words of encouragement from the others XD).
The final result is....
SATISFYING =D.

4) A few things that catch my attention:
-My new desktop can boot up in under 30 seconds. Woot2! Well, without any antivirus though. I wonder how well will it do if I install one.
-In the Windows 7 Windows Experience Index, the slowest component is the CPU and RAM with rating of 7.5. I was expecting the hard disk to be the slowest, but the opposite happened, the hard disk maxed to 7.9. o.O..... is this the power of SSD?
-The desktop is surprisingly quiet, even with 2 chassis fan, 1 CPU fan, 2 GPU fan, and 1 PSU fan. Two friends of mine who went to my room after the assembly thought that I connect the big monitor to my laptop instead, and didn't realize a big desktop house is there.

5) The verdict. This purchase is satisfying. I believe the specs could last for at least another 3 years before the rig become less-supported. The only thing that I have to think now is... how to ship it to Malaysia later. -.-" I can only think of contenna courrier for now. Well, I'll save that thought for later =D.

My newly renovated workstation. Really, I plan to work with it, no kidding.

p/s: I actually made a mistake in choosing the PSU because 500W is not enough to do multi-GPU (aka AMD CrossFireX or nVidia SLi). Heh, typical kind of mistake if you only have yourself to consult with. As the result of this, I will have to buy a new PSU if I want to do CrossFireX in the future.

In the meantime however, a run through Skyrim and Assassins Creed Brotherhood in High Setting 1080p prove that I may not even need it. They are able to maintain steady rate of frame per second between 50 to 60 with not very common drop to 40 fps. Meh, I guess I can live with that.

Another day of winter: First day of class

Now it is 6.25am in the morning.
I suppose to wake up at 7am, but somehow I slept too early yesterday, and end up waking up a couple of hours ago -.-".

I will have the first class of the term at 8am, Math 300. Math in the morning, isn't that great? Fwa ha ha ha ha.
I hope that this term will be even better than the last.

Okay, I want to take a 30 minutes nap.

Another day of winter: New Year 2012

^^. Happy New Year 2012 everyone.

     For most part of the world, the day is already in 2012. This day marks the next revolution of earth orbiting the sun. Some say that it is insignificant, while some say that it is important. I say that today is a rare enough event for everyone to notice.

     Just like every other new years, I've been thinking on what shall be my resolution for the next 365 days.
But WAIT. Before that... what happened to 2011's resolutions??
-.-" While I didn't put it into words on this blog, I believe it was something about... getting better grades in my academic terms. Well, thanks Nizam of 2011. I guess you did a good job. One thing that I succeed was I was finally able to have good sleep the night before exams. No more being an all-nighters. ^^

     So, now, it is MY TURN, Nizam of 2012. What kind of paths shall I face for the next 12 months? What choices shall build up dilemmas for the next 12 months? What are the things that I could do the best as a 22 years old teen for the next 12 months? What level of misery that I can expect for the next 12 months? What can I do today that may help me for the next 12 months?

     I think last year, I was a little bit misbehaved. There's a lot of area I could have improved on, particularly in performing daily prayers. Then, while my time management showed some improvement, I still depend a lot on last minute pressure to finish the job. Whereas for daily consumption, I concluded that coffee & coke is bad for exams. MILO is by far the best!

     Therefore, I believe what I need for next year is to practice one-time-FOCUS aka giving dedications. FOCUS when I am studying. FOCUS when doing prayers. FOCUS when playing games. FOCUS when doing team projects. FOCUS when I am cooking. FOCUS in doing assignments. This is my resolution for 2012. I believe everyone would agree that 'focus' is a word with many good connotations.

Another day of winter: Battery

Hahah.

The other day, I was watching an episode of Type-Moon's Carnival Phantasm when a character from that episode mentions about "Enerloop" batteries.

Honestly, that was the first time I heard about that brand.

Anyway, time goes by, and a friend of mine recently ordered a set of batteries online.
And to my surprise, he ordered Eneloop batteries!!... Oh! The brand actually does EXIST, so I said with excitement. (with a minor difference, i.e the spelling is different compared to the one in anime: Enerloop vs Eneloop.)

Since I am also coincidentally in need of rechargeable batteries to power my noise cancelling headphones, I told myself... Why not? Moreover, I heard that these batteries last substantially longer than conventional rechargeable batteries.

Long story short, two days ago I went online and bought a set of Eneloop batteries with chargers for CAD 29.

Today, this came to my door... =D

8x AA + 4x AAA + 1 Charger for CAD29.

Woot woot woot!!

Another day of autumn: It's cold!!!

The temperature is getting crueler. I can feel challenging days ahead of me.

The number of shirts that are comfortable for me to use has been drastically reduced by 50%.

My nose and ears start to feel numb within 1 minute each time I go outside.

Yeap, winter is coming.

I need the HEAT!

Ya Allah, please assist me so that I continue to have the willpower to get through the semester with my best.

Another day of autumn: No skip class... yet ^^

I'm proud to announce that I haven't skipped any class yet for the semester.

(No oversleep etc, a problem since my first year)

This is only a personal achievement. I'm not saying that skipping class is totally disastrous. In fact, most people in my class sometimes HAVE to skip certain class to attend job interviews. Every morning I can see a couple of people smartly wearing coat in class, trying to look professional.

Even the instructor mentioned that every student is responsible to cover the material discussed in class themselves. So, basically, most of the effort is done by the students. Attending class would be just more helpful and it avoids the frustration of tracing back in-class notes from peers.

Yeah, so I hope this routine will be retained for the rest of the semester.
i.e.
EVERYDAY, WAKE UP SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 7-7:30AM, AND REACH CLASS BEFORE 8AM.

Another cloudy day: Got an Int. Driving License!

With 3-4 days towards Eid Fitr, everyone seems to be rushing like there's no tomorrow.

Today I supposed to help my parent looking for stuff to decorate my house with, but I took the day off. Anyway, no one's at home when I woke up, so I feel lonely, hence I thought about updating my blog. Haha.

Okay. So What happened recently?

Yesterday,... I went to JPJ to get my international license.

There were not many people at JPJ yesterday.

It didn't took long before it was my turn. I guess people are busy preparing for raya instead huh.

And soon after that, I get my own International Driving License! Yeaaaayyyy!!

The sad part is it costs RM150.
Additionally, since my normal driving license is also expiring, they need to renew it first, adding rm30 to the total.
So, there, RM180 flew.

To be honest, I have little interest to drive oversea. I just want to be able to drive legally when I am needed to.
Of course, I do want to try driving from the left seat, but that's all it gets. No more than that. Haha.

p/s: Hrmmm... I think I saw a picture of Canadian friend with a Lamborghini on facebook the other day.. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. **drool**

Another cloudy day - Mental preparation

It has been 3 months since spring summer holiday started.

At first, I was worried that I will waste the long holiday with useless activities. However, alhamdulillah, at home, I can always find the needs of doing some meaningful stuff. So far, yeap, I am satisfied. Not to mention that I can unleash my driving powaaa!!

As a side note, automatic trans. > manual trans. I want to enjoy the ride, not the sound of my engine -_-.

It appears that the last month of holiday will coincide with the month of Ramadhan. I am wishing that the month will help me further in preparing me for another 2 years of journey oversea. To be specific, I need to ensure that I am secured physically, and mentally.

Physically as in health obviously, and mentally as in to have the will-power to keep working. Insyaallah.

As for my dilemma of whether I should celebrate Eid Fitr here in Kuching, yes, I think I would. Thanks to those who put weight on that decision.

So... yeah, later.

(p/s: I am currently playing Steins;Gate visual novel for PC. It is in Japanese language, but I manage to find an active translator(ITH, Atlas, TA) to help me translate while reading. Anyone has any info on it, or is interested can drop me a message =D)

Thoughts - Influence

Last few weeks, my sister uttered something like this during our conversation about our viewpoint to everyone around us.
"The only thing I cared for is my own belief on matters"
and I replied something like this,
"Good, that is a strong and important statement that will help you..."

Of course, being not-in-a-tv-or-movie this conversation was, a moments later I regret and wished that I would have said something potentially more beautiful .. like

"It is good that you are able to think like that. Only strong people can say those. However, for now just keep it. Be a good girl and listen to your parents. The time will come in the future where you will be in trouble and at that moment, that hold will help you."

Oh well... I hope they will eventually grow up eventually as fine ladies. Haha. No really I'm serious.

From my point of view, I am actually glad I manage to be a person that they can feel comfortable to talk with, and they actually are willing to share seriously about their life how they see it (aside from complaining about how bad they hate maths in school -__-").

...and that is like a DREAM COME TRUE for me.

One of the reasons is being able to share.

Like I said to my friends the other days, I think the best satisfaction is when you can deliver your experience and knowledge to other people, esp. the next generation, and see them grow up along with your passed thoughts.

Another cloudy day - mood swing

Today I wake up finding myself alone at home, without tv, food, water , and bright sunshine.

Well, of course I could turn on the tv if I want to, or.. I could go to the kitchen to eat stuffs, or I can just go outside to enjoy the view.

But I think I like it inside the house. It feels soo quiet that I can recognize all sources of sound wave that reached my ears. At least that's what I thought.
Maybe I should've mentioned that I live in a moderately busy town, Matang Jaya.

Combining the 2 factors above, results in a magnificent observation of my surrounding.

I can somehow feel a stressed woman driving a car on nearby road heading to school getting her child.
I can somehow feel a satisfied mechanic downstair who managed to start the engine of his client.
I can somehow feel how birds can chirp all-out with every person nearby ignoring them.
I can somehow feel a truck owner finally reached his destination, then looking for his customer.
And many more.

It is not in my interest to talk about something out of the blue. Here is my reason.
A while back, I talked about how similar life is to RPG, and how everyone other than me is no different than NPCs.
Well, I must admit though, these 'NPCs' are amazing. They accomplish their own work. They work independently or dependently with other 'NPCs'.

Unlike NPCs in RPGs, there is one special attribute in the people around me.
They live their life like me. A dynamic life, full of objectives and emotions.

Hrmm... so I don't know how to end this post.
I just hope that they all do the very best in their life, and for specific case, as a community that lives in Malaysia, will continue to help each other. ^^

i have been in Kuching for a month now.
So far, the town is very lively with events, not to mention the illegal ones. Haha.

That aside, I'm pissed of with my decision back before my departure from Canada to just forget buying a GoPro camera.

I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT IT!!

Now I'm left in Kuching, with probably many more events to come, but without any equipment to record the events.
I'm sad...

If there is a cat without nails, that cat is analogous to me.
If there is a car without taillights, that car is analogous to me.

OMG it rhymes!

Oh well, might be good as well to just take as many pictures as I can. *sigh*

Irregularity in behavior... how do we come to the conclusion that something is irregular?

What if the irregularities will be something common in the future instead? Then by that time that behavior will no longer be irregular.

So, being regular is actually time dependent where the past is put as reference to compare what is set as current. Here we have a duration of time in which after a specific behavior persist, that behavior will be considered as regular.

Okay cool.

The question.

What is the range of the duration?
1 month?
1 year?
10 years?
Or dependent with something else?

Yeah! I love dependencies! ^^

Another day of spring: Home sweet home, Sarawak.

Apparently I skipped a month this time. Oh well.

Okay so here is a summary of what happened since my last post.
- Finished final exam.
- Went to Malaysian Student Association dinner.
- Group photos with everyone especially graduated students.

- Took a hellish 2 days flight from Edmonton to KL.
- Went out to Low Yatt to update myself.
- Went to Negeri Sembilan
- Visit relative's friend's Kenduri Kahwin.

- Took an hour and half flight from KL to Kuching.
- Claim my delayed baggage.
- Bought some presents for my lil sisters to help them study.
- Redesigned the interior of my house to make it looks neater. LoLx
- Went to Kyan!me event at Kuching and met my fellow batch schoolmate who cosplayed!!!

and now... here I am thinking of what should be done in the next 3 months for the time I have left in Sarawak.

Another day of winter: A week prior to Final Exam.

Good morning!! Wow. Dust is everywhere!

Cough*

There is only one more week before the my first final exam paper, and three weeks before the last.
BIG QUESTION, looping in my mind right now is this; what can I do to make this 'one week before exam' different from the 'one week before exam' that I've had countless times before?

Study harder? I've done that... even though it is speculate-able of how much 'harder' I've been through for the past years.

Study on the very last minute? I've done that too. The worse to date is to start revision 30 minutes before my paper -.-. (Don't try this at home, kids)

Partying in MMORPG the night before exam? I could be proud of this easily.

Of course, another question that leads to the previous question is; why do I want something different now?
Simple, yet meaningful question.

There is only 1 extreme of outcome that people like to have in their exams, that is the highest mark possible.
That's where the problem lies. For the last centuries, (lol) my marks has been.... what you may call... average, expected, foreseen, even before you registered for the course.

There is no problem with that really. Like a buoy at the ocean. Under state of equilibrium, the buoy must be floating on top of the water, and be at the lowest altitude in the atmosphere. That is to be expected.

What I am thinking right now is... analogicaly... if I am able to create some sort of seawave, or wind turbulent, or any anomalies that can disrupt that equilibrium, hence lifting the buoy into the air. Yeah!!

Within this 1 week, what can I do? Hrmm.

[p/s: I sent my camcorder back for manufacturer warranty repair last Wednesday. This is the first time I do such thing. It was exciting to learn how that is done ^^. I hope they correct the problem before I get back to Malaysia. If it does, I'll finish the Boom de Yada project in Malaysia insyaallah. Yea!]

Another day of winter: Reading week

This week is holiday for the university. It is called the Reading Week; which I believe intended to allow students to prepare for their oncoming midterm exams.
In my case, I had 2 of my midterms before the reading week. They were so-so. Will the reading week help me in the remaining 3 midterms? I hope it will. In fact, I'm counting on this week to keep up with my studies.

My main target however is only one; Sleep. I must replenish my sleep hours which has depreciate much for the past 5 weeks.
I also want to revise the way I do my assignments, reports etc so that it could be done earlier and I could have a good sleep hours.

I probably have posted about sleep hours many times in this blog. Haha. That is probably one thing that I am still struggling to manage.

I guess that's all. This Wednesday I'm going to join my friends for a trip to Calgary... about 600 km to the south. I hope it will be a comfortable trip. lol.

Another day of winter

Phew.

Outside, the nature seems struggling keep itself warm. So far, not a week has passed with a steady temperature. I'm not in a position to complain though. I like it that way. Everyday the road to school is different. One day, it feel rocky, another day it could be slushy, some other days it could be icy, some other days it is muddy. Well, that is winter for you.

Now, 10pm, sitting in the university cafeteria-like building (it's called CAB) wondering what is the plan for tomorrow and the consequent days. I'll have my first midterm of the semester in 4 days. I wonder if I studied enough.

Alhamdulillah, so far I'm still keeping my first-day-of-the-term momentum. I hope I'll continue to do so.

Academic aside, I will probably fly back home in a couple of month. Haven't done any booking yet, since the flight fare is still beyond acceptable price. Right now, the big issue is... what should I do at home?
I don't want my 2 month in Malaysia to wrap-up with me playing ps3 most of the time. Oh yeah, btw, I'm getting a ps3. RPG ftw!

Guess that's all. I'll also update my 2011 resolution very soon.

Fixed "Versus Malware"

Two days ago, this blog site has been labeled as 'Attack Page' by Google. I got a few complaints from my peers that their websites also received the same warning and saying that it originated from my site.

Sorry guys. I hope I didn't cause any major reduction to traffic to your websites. However, I can assure you if it only originated from my site, then there was no actual malware-spreading going on. It was just a warning because of bad link.

I removed those bad links and things should run back smoothly now. ;D

I wonder. What is the thing that motivates thinking.

I can for example, turn to a page of my math textbook and think nothing of it.
On other situation, I can turn to that same page, and starts to wonder what does the bunch of text/equations mean.

Well, yeah, I can certainly say that in the second case I put my thought on it as an answer.
However, that is where the problem is...

What is the process before that?
What is there between looking at sentences/equations and thinking about it?

Is there some sort of 'switch' that when turned on, ACTIVATES thinking? If there is, how do I turn on the switch?
In computer analogy..., how do I start writing on the input buffer?

If I know that, I can probably do what people call PAYING ATTENTION more effectively.

Today, January 6th is my birthday according to Solar Calendar. It also marks the beginning of 2011.

Last year, I made the resolution of getting A's and finish a diary. The path of getting all A's was harsh to me so I didn't get it, but I did try my best. Diary? Heh, I got a better picture diary. =D. It's cooler.
My Hatachi project is still ongoing with a little bit of additions.
As I grow up, I find keeping resolutions are very useful especially if you got it written somewhere. It probably works just like writing the 'Objective' section in your experiment report. It helps me to keeping track of what I want to do 'in overall'.

Daily life is full with infinite of sub-objectives. It varies from large event of going to supermarket to buy food to very small event of hitting the space bar on the keyboard. Who knows the number of events you have done in one night. They are all relative and depends on what can be considered an obvious events with cause and effect.

In between those events are choices. "What letter should I press next". "Which transport should I use to get home". Etc. These are the one that is affected by the larger objectives you have beforehand, which could be, "Typing my name" or "To get home as fast as I can".

Extend it a little bit more, you can see where the yearly resolution can come into play.Having yearly resolutions is not a must, but a indeed good addition to your life.

So I made my own cake on my own birthday. Of course, I don't expect anyone to make one for me. So, rather than I have a dull night, might be good to have a homemade cake to eat aye? Haha.

So, I believe another resolution should take place. Unfortunately, I feel uneasy with the exam I just went through. And I can't define my course of action completely without knowing what will happen in the near future. Therefore, I will postpone the new year resolution till next month that is when everything should be settled. Will update this post again. =D Ganbaru!

Hello blogger. It has been a while since my last post.
What happened was I was trying to focus more on my studies. I eliminated a few online activities and ended up including blogging as well.

Fall 2010 term has passed. There are a total of 5 more terms to go. The next one, Winter 2011, will start just next week. I'm not sure if I did well or not. I hope I did. Relatively I have put more work in my studies throughout the term.
Homeworks never fail to be sux, but promising to aid understanding as always.
The best part is surely working with foreign student(or me as foreign student working with local students you could say ;D) in group projects and labs. In Mec E we have been taught to expect different type of people in a group and ways to work with them. I must say, it works! The idea of group as a separate entity than the individuals who make up the group is very interesting. You could have the person you hate the most in the group, but still be an efficient group. Might post up something on that later.

However, I doubt the final exams did me much good. One of the courses, statics should be the subject I'm ace on but the its exam was consecutively held after another exam. It was really tiring, so I don't think I gave my best on that. :(
The reexamination procedure on Academic Calendar doesn't seems to allow my conditions though. I guess I will have to check it out with the people in charge in person.

I believe these are BIG hints that Mara will contact me again soon =_=.
Ya Allah please help me go through this with peace.

Right now I'm thinking the course of action I should take. The nonconsecutive classes is good, however the cons is there as well. Yeap! The 8am is an obvious obstacle especially during Winter months. My inspiration right now: comparing to the people, lecturers, and a few local friends who have to wake up at 5am and commute a longer distance than I do, I am an absolute jerk to complain. Haha.

As sweet and bitter moment of first year slowly fading away, here comes second year which never break it's promise to bring challenge to students. (At least that is what I heard, lol)

Alhamdulillah I was admitted into Mechanical Engineering at my U. With the holiday also coming to an end, I should as well come up with a new resolution for the next Fall/Winter duration.

That being said, I hereby am going to work harder for next two term and ~~aim for~~ get three point six GPA. Insyaallah.

I do pay some concern to expectation from MARA, my parent and people around me, but I think it is myself that I have to start dealing with. My spring studies proves it. The only choices that I should allow myself are improve, improve, and improve. No maintains are allowed as my maintain=get worse. Well, thank god I do want to improve.

So, right now I am busy arranging my class schedule. What I've learned from the past is... me and consecutive classes definitely do not get along. So, be it, even if my classes start at 8, I don't mind, as long as no class run one after another. I find short breaks are very valuable assets now.

Then, there are about one and a half months left for holiday. My housemates are planning to go for another camping trip it seems. Me on the other hands... , probably going to take my TM700 for a walk around Edmonton. I'm still figuring out the best way to preserve the quality of 1080p60 video it produces.

Today I learned one new thing.
This discovery takes 3 laptops in which one acts as a constant variable, and a few years of time.

NEVER ever use ALCOHOL to clean your LCD SCREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DAMN IT!

Why?
The alcohol reacts with the LCD compound and causes white display to become yellowish.
You will notice this when you compare new laptops at the store and old ones.
Newer laptops often display a more bluish type of white.

Should you care?
No, unless it annoys you, which is often the case if you do photography and image editing.

Sad... sad... very sad only. ...and all this while I thought I am LCD screen's best friend... did weekly cleaning etc. Sheet.

RPG and Life

(I'm going to write about my BIG source of motivation. However it started with a long prologue which I decided not to delete. =D)

Ahah. I've just finished watching Angel Beats. The last episode, episode 13 was just aired 2 days ago. It was sure entertaining, although the background is probably based on Japanese culture that believe in reincarnation.
Another sad story by Key.

It was how people who died without fulfilling their dream are gathered together at one place(a school apparently) and given chance to fulfill their dream with their memory still intact before going to their next life. The main conflict was, they don't know about that. They thought they must fight to stay at that school instead. So the main character arrives from his life, learned the true purpose of being at that place, and help the other to find peace, allowing them to disappear to their next life.

Throughout the story I do find one thing interesting though, that is how the rebels call people other than them as NPC. The naming is not stressed that much in the story so it just made me, the viewer to wonder why did the producer used the term NPC. I probably missed something in the episodes since I just had one run on the series.

As someone who is among the target audience, I believe that refers to Non-Playable Character which is a must-know term for any RPG game. Coincidentally, as a gamer who love RPGs, I do sometimes think of myself as a Playable Character, and other people around me as NPC. In fact, it is very fun to think that way. The concept is also the same indeed.
You can go to them, do actions, and they reply with some actions. The only difference here is the number of things they can reply back in which in many games, those are limited.
In games, we interact with NPC to obtain items, information. Many of these are required to complete quests and tasks in the game.
Don't you think the same kind of interactions are required in real life? Haha. You talk everyday with your friends, your teachers, parents. (With the exception information is stored in your brain instead of memory chips) It is SIMILAR in the way that only with that you can advance forward in life, getting promoted, making new friends, getting new skills and so on.

I'm sure I'm not the only RPG gamer who ever thought of that. However, there is one BIG motivation factor here. In RPG, as we follow the story, we often hinted of an acquire-able great things ahead in the story, and we (surprisingly) KNOW that it is quite near/far ahead and we have to do a number of things to get it. Be it, the strongest weapon, unlockable characters, you name it. Then you start to do research on how to get it. ...

Our goals in life is achieved the same way!! WTF! <--- exaggerate attempt

Everything comes with pre-requisite. You have to do something before achieving something.
To talk about karma, you do something good, you get back something good.
To talk in geek, "cin doesn't wait for input".

Some people may think that you have lost your life when you get into RPG. But hell no, if you really get into the game, and enjoy achieving things, you have owned yourself a mindset that can help you in real life.
Be the person with the name of your name living in a world with your condition as a starter.
Then think about your goal. Oh wait? Do you even have a goal?

Let's talk a bit of goals here...
In playing RPG, I can find 3 kind of goals that I commonly have to achieve. Of course we have the one and ULTIMATE GOAL of the game that is either save the planet/universe, eliminate the villain bosses, catch all pokemon(lol), create a perfect civilization/city, etc.
Then to make the game interesting, various level of difficulties is added by adding smaller tasks that you have to do such as doing certain errand, rescue and recruit people to be made ally, find key to get to certain places, doing a sequence of quests, etc. Completing these can be considered as MINI-GOALS of the game. Can't disagree on that.
Then the best thing about RPG game is, there are plenty of SATISFACTION GOALS. This is not tasks determined by the game, but the player itself. You often find yourself wanting to do the hardship so that you can overlevel the game, or you want to know-em-all or you want to perfectly have certain combinations of items at your disposal for use, defeat everything ever made in the game.. too many to be listed.

It is simply similar to the real life. I believe you can connect all of the above with your life. We have things that we get satisfied by getting into them. We also know that everyday we have to do various errand just to keep us alive, and do alot of stuff, at school, and at work. But wait, does that covers everything already?
One thing that we often forget is our ultimate goal in this life.
As a Muslim believer, I am to serve my god, Allah. For some unbeliever out there, perhaps their ultimate goal is to find happiness or be of help for the next generation.

But then, once and a while, you might say life is unfair, things went unexpectedly wrong, and you failed the biggest thing you ever wanted to do. So there is no where role-playing myself works you say. For me, that's where my belief as a muslim help me. I am grateful and always feel motivated because Allah mentioned in the Quran that:

"Allah does not impose upon any soul a duty but to the extent of its ability." (2:286)

RPG are made in the way that all the the ultimate goal is achievable, in which of course, through various difficulties.With the above premise from our book Qur'an being true, life is the same as well!

Hence I find that RPG and real life are similar. Everything bad that comes to you has its hiqmah(benefits from ill). If you can just think of the hardship that you get in life is just a challenge, or pre-requisite of something, they are all overcomeable, you can just achieve your goals.

It has been 2 weeks since my summer holiday started.
I learned a few new things throughout though, so for now I'm still not bored yet. Haha! Ruby language, to name one. =)

I hope I will recover as soon as possible and get ready for my next term. I don't want my term start bleak like it was in Winter. Really sad. Bleak start usually ends with bleak end. That never has changed since as long I can remember.

So to brighten my start a little bit, with me now is a 'Pending-list.txt' that contains thing that I wanted to do but cant due to time and emotional constrict during school term. So my BIG plan is to empty that list, and be someone who don't have to fill it back. Yeay!

Long story short, I bought my first jeans for the first time after 20 years of living.

I only wear slacks or thick cottoned slacks (which I can only find at Wisma Satok, Kuching so far) before.
I find side pockets are more convenient to me. They are especially larger and comfortable for me to fit devices.
I also like how I can move freely with them. I can do an instant turning-kick or a downward kick some more without having to adjust my legs here and there. Well, objectively that is true.

でも　ね。。。(however...)
Naa.. of course I don't expect myself to wear what I brought from Malaysia for the whole time I'm here, can I?
Ahaha.

So, today I decided to find new slacks.
I went to West Edmonton Mall.
... were looking around.
... were looking around a bit more.

Turned out... there is NO thick-cottoned type that I always preferred.
Perhaps there are stores that I haven't visit yet inside there.
HOWEVER...

...incidentally, I got into this one store.
To make things further short, I like the specific type of JEANS they offered, which suits my needs and upcoming needs, so I bought them.
MUAHAHAHA!

Done. Off to sleep.
Tomorrow, ... I mean, later today, if I wake up early enough, I want to go there again. Finishing the incomplete ;)

I'm amazed just by observing.

I had absorbed the idea of urbanization before, which is how cities emerge over time.

I also understand when technology advances... more equipments and gadgets are able to assist people.

But to make appearance of a place to change, those two are simply slow...

BUT SEASON SHIFT IS DIFFERENT.

Today... everything is green. The next day, everything is white.

No matter my house or your house. No matter the sky-scrapper or shelter for those who can't afford a house..

Not just to the place, but to the people as well. Everyone changes their attire to ensure maximum heat.

No matter they are professionals, or those without job.

No matter they are adult, or just babies.

Today, everything is white. The next day, everything simply change.

No matter if you are blind or deaf, you feel the changes. Indeed a BIG change.

It doesn't take a century for that change to occur. Not even a decade.

It just takes ONE NIGHT for everyone to feel the difference.

...and yet people are not involved in the process.

Today I decided to follow my friends to go to Waterpark at Edmonton, located inside West Edmonton Mall. The place is somewhat similar to Sunway Lagoon at Subang Jaya, but I don't know which one is better though. The last time I went to Sunway Lagoon is when I was 10.

I never play with any long ramp before. Even at SL, I was too small that my parent didn't allow me to try any.

GUESS WHAT.... my first water slide in my life is on the highest and the steepest ramp in RED as shown in the picture! SHEET!

How was it? ...
I let my friends go first. They slide really fast. The water splash looks so cool as they slide across. Well, I just want to anticipate how would it feel before I try it myself. Then it is my turn.

So I sit on the ramp... move a little bit to get myself moving. Suddenly... !

I was FREEFALLING!!! SHEET! I thought I can at least feel the ramp's normal force acting on my back. I thought wrong!!! There's only a slight sensation of water splashes on my back. Not bad... not bad...
Then at the bottom I start laughing to myself. Haha. It was actually fun lol!!

BUT I MADE ONE MISTAKE...
I at least tried to anticipate the ramp earlier... but I didn't anticipate for the pool waiting for me at the bottom at all.
It took me a while to realize where did I fall at the bottom. I wasn't sure where should I go.

"Should I swim? or should I just walk? but which way? Ah, the security patrol is asking me to get out of here. Ah! I'm stuck."

I guess my mind was still on the ramp lol. So I had Akmal to help me. Ahah! Thanks!

So, that was my first. We tried several other ramps after that. I can feel Adrenaline Rush working inside me. Ahaha! Only after that I realized the first ramp I said earlier was categorized as Extreme. Among others include Intermediate, Easy, Advance. Lol.

*Rasa nak ketuk je kepala diorang ni. Ade ke bagi naik yg paling extreme dulu -.-*
Then we spent the rest of the time playing with artificial wave at the large pool. Never thought people enjoy being hit by wave that much. Somehow that doesn't make much sense to me.. -.-.

To conclude, I want to go there again!! To Ariff, Akmal, Cimi, and Ejan, thanks for bringing me along today! =)

There are quite many things happened recently. Well, that statement is always true. The thing that make it different is when you get involve with them. Hah!

Chronologically, i had my final exams, then 4 months of holiday follows which contains a lot of other stuff.

A little bit of comment about the exam. I would say it was like a common nightmare. Apparently Shahronizam of 5 months ago saved me. I feel some kind of failure, but at the same time satisfied. Failure because, my study strategy wasn't much of help, and satisfied because, somehow I manage to follow my own strategy. AHAH! I wonder if they cancel out each other. XD
I guess I have to email an apology letter soon.
Effectively, one of my Project Hatachi resolution failed because of that. HOWEVER, that's not the end. It is just the beginning. Just like npc in many games has said, "knowing your weakness is knowing your strength". Currently devising my plan for next term.

Then, apparently, my housemate, Sadid bought a PS3. I'm glad++. Haha. The pros n cons of him buying it is more balanced than me buying it, hence solving a few dilemma I had in my mind.

Then, I bought a set of Bose Companion 2 speaker. Honestly speaking, it is the sweetest 2.0 speaker I ever hear in my life. Hearing music never felt such fuwafuwa as that before. Worth every cent of my money spent for it.

Then,... I went to Emaan Award. To my senior, Bebee and Ariff, thank you very much. Only Allah knows best how much you two inspired me. anatatachi no egao... zettai ni itsumo oboeteru! hontou ni arigatou! mata shourai!! ＼（＾∀＾）メ（＾∀＾）ノ

Then, I discovered Nanami Madobe for Windows 7. Voiced by a legendary seiyuu. Thumbs up for Microsoft Japan!

Then, I manage to sleep early 7 days straight. -v-

Then, thanks to Arizan Nurhizman, I rediscovered a skill I thought lost in After Effect CS3.

Tomorrow, next term's first class starts!
Eventhough they said that I only have to pass the course, I won't slack off. It has been a while inappropriate wavelength of light fly with me. I am going to aim for a wider range of visible light. Definitely!

Guide - decrease loading time for FOLDER with massive items

This guide is also for you if...

1) You are using Windows 7 (Might as well occur to XP or Vista, but the problem is less obvious for those OS)

2) You always open certain folders in your PC which contains A LOT of files particularly, music, photos, videos, documents.

3) ..and of course, you get annoyed by the time taken for all those files n its thumbnails to completely show up,
OR you hate hearing your hard disk making noises as those files are being accessed,
OR you imagine the equation 'lim n-to-infinity, [certain log eqn] = [certain limit]' every time you see the green progress bar. XD

Solution?
1. Go to the respective problematic folder.
2. Right-click it > Properties

3. Go to Customize tab.

4. Choose one type of folder type to be applied. (Usually chosen for you already)

5. The MAIN part!!! Tick the 'Also apply this template to all subfolders'.

6. Done! Click OK.

By doing this, you prevented Windows from doing the hassle of determining folder types for you, hence saving much more time, and laptop's battery power.

Test the difference if you don't believe me :).

This guide is for...

1) People who want a quick way to resize their pictures without opening any image editing programs which take considerably long time to load (like paint/acdsee/photoshop).
- commonly happens to... people who blogs, and like to put pictures from their digital camera etc.

2) ...and don't like installing new software. (This guide still requires you to install something though, but it is simply a windows extension rather than a software.)

3) Of course.. using Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7.

Solution?
Image Resizer Powertoy
This is a clone of the Image Resizer Powertoy for Windows XP -- a PowerToy that allows you to right-click on one or more image files in Windows Explorer to resize them.

Many people may have solutions of their own. However I still like to stress why this one works better.
1) Only 2 steps... Right click the picture, and choose the resize option. Both take below 0.1 second.
2) Works for multiple pictures. You just select those files, and right-click on them.
3) It is based on Microsoft's powertoys. Microsoft has discontinued creating any more powertoys after XP. So, the creator extended its compatibility with Vista/7. For the less savvy... this implies that, it simply adds a new feature to Windows, instead of installing new program etc.

Until now, I can still find many other Malaysian anime-fans who are very envious to that Makcik through their blogs. Ahaha.

I still find Suzumiya Haruhi is the best story I've ever watched. The narrator's humor. The logically challenging events. The sense of continuity. The orchestra music they use in the background. I like it very much that I even read the novels it was adapted from.

Just something to fill my time between calculus integrations. ^^ I am still in exam week. I'm hoping for the best for this term. Yeay!

Guide - Windows Live Messenger in Windows 7, reverting to the old way

This guide is for you if you answer YES to these 3 question.

1) Do you use Windows Live Messenger?

2) Do you use Windows 7?

3) Do you prefer WLM icon appearing at the traybar (near the clock) instead of the taskbar (which is a new change introduced in Windows 7)?

You might answer NO to the third question. However, at least you will be wondering why this issue comes up in the first place.
Here is why;
a) Right click menu of MSN at the traybar seems more responsive than at the taskbar. This is shown when;
- Sometimes your Unread Inbox Message counter of your inbox seems incorrect in the Taskbar version, which so far never happens to me in the traybar version.
- Sometimes you end up clicking the msn icon of the Taskbar version multiple times to get to the MSN main screen especially when you are doing heavy work on your PC.
b) If you use Messenger Plus, the 'More Statuses' only appear in the traybar version.
c) Other messengers are still utilizing the traybar. So, you might want to group them together.
d) Some perfectionists consider IM programs as PASSIVE programs. They believe the traybar are for PASSIVE programs while the taskbar are only for ACTIVE programs.

So, have you changed your mind? I don't mind you know. But in case you decided to say YES as well, then go on to the tutorial below. Don't worry, no patching or altering system files involved. It is the legal way. It is only that many people don't know about it.

So, how to revert it to the previous way?

Short answer -
Run Windows Live Messenger in compatibility mode for 'Windows Vista'.

Long answer/ How to -
1) Go to your Windows Live Messenger shortcuts at the desktop or start menu. Another way is to browse directly to the main exe file at C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Messenger\msnmsgr.exe.
2) Right click > Properties
3) Go to the Compatibility tab.
4) Tick the "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
5) Select "Windows Vista" from the drop-down menu.
6) Click OK.
7) Finally, exit your WLM, and restart it back.

You may now Un-pin WLM from the taskbar if you want.

Impressed with its ending animation - Bakemonogatari.

I always watch the op/ed of anime I bought/downloaded although I always have the chance to move the slider where the main story is. I am fascinated by how those animators animate those keyframes and adjust even the smallest details to fit the song that comes along. You can see this in the following youtube video from the 'little' shakes, changing scenes, colour switching, changes in beats, etc etc. (Which is why, for those who care, when we watch anime together and I mention about not skipping op/ed, I meant it seriously)

So, I was watching Bakemonogatari recently when I came to their new ending song. While the song also become forum's topic of conversation, what I want to point here is its animation.

The drawing style that I would categorize as creepy beforehand are being animated in such way it feels cute. I am quite impressed.

the first 4 sec are a bit of the episode before the ending animation starts.

Song is Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari by supercell... that I can roughly translate as... 'story that you don't know'? something like that.

Watching OP/ED are very inspirational you know. Without noticing, you gain a lot of ideas when you are animating your own After Effect projects.

I am playing Left 4 Dead 2!

Hee. Last fall term, I decided to reward myself with L4D2 if I achieve my target for that term. It went okay. So, I plan to wait for the price to drop before I go to game store and buy it. It turns out that... since it was released last year, there is no drop for even one cent in it's price... *sigh.

So I made up my mind, and went to buy it last week. Yay!

Why now, when it is only weeks away for final exam? (I can sense that question filling up the atmosphere of my house, and I feel uneasy for it =.=...) It is my long-time strategy! This is to encourage myself to study a bit more. As a reward for studying that night, I will play this game. That's how it works.

Last semester, I did it with Resident Evil 5. Ahahaha! Remember my post about RE5? XD.

Why Left 4 Dead 2? For those who never heard of this game, I guess, it is worthy to explain first. L4D2 is brought to us by the same company that worked on Half Life and Counter Strike. Effectively, L4D2 is the result of merging those 2 popular games. I played L4D1 in commentary mode beforehand (commentary mode is a game mode where the game developer explains to you how they invented the game as you play the game), and I remember coming to one part in which they said, they originally play Counter Strike and beating each other with only knife. From there they find it would be interesting if they create a game with a team of players killing a horde of enemy with only melee weapons. Something like that.
Hence, Left 4 Dead, a game where you are teamed up with 3 other survivors, and still have to stay alive as you make your way to the place you will be rescued.

I have been loving it since L4D1 because there is no way you could win the game without team-work. That's the main thing. The concept of playing together and helping each other out is so clear.
Back in college, I used to play it with Faza, Lan, and Ezwan Sora. I remember how we were freaked out when the zombies had us separated in the game. Finally it was a big relief when at least one of us made it to the final rescue point.
*At the final map event, there is a feeling of "Go! Go! Save yourself. We will hold these zombies. Don't mind about us!!". Ahaha! *

Honestly, I planned to buy a 4-license game pack so that I can play with my current room mates. However, I don't want to bother them with their studies for now. Maybe after the final exam? =) I don't know if they are interested or not though :'(

As for my L4D2 copy, I played a few times so far, and it is great!! I think people should conventionally divide multiplayer games into 2 main types, in which one requires co-op extensively, and the other don't. I believe L4D1 and 2 are the best co-op games of all!

Just in case anyone wondered, those are screenshot from Rockman.exe, which was my favorite animation back then in primary school. It was aired around the Digimon era, when I was in primary 5-6. Of course, it wasn't aired in Malaysia until recently. Back then I had to find bits of them on the internet and buy CDs from the store.

But I didn't catch the Borneo part back then because fansubs were not popular, and I didn't know any japanese language back then as well. Only RAW media were available. LoL. So, thinking that now I have the bandwidth, I better get any last bit of fansubbed version before they extinct from the net =).

Once again, Happy New Year everyone.

Went to City Square Edmonton for the countdown event.

Here I uploaded a clip from Lucky Star to help me convey the message literally.

2010 is a beautiful number to me. It is... rounded up, if you get what I mean. Additionally, it also coincides with the year I'm turning hatachi, which is a rounded up number as well.
Then, being hatachi this year also coincides with the year I attend university as undergraduate.
So, in my perspective, it is like a beautiful RESET button. So, I'll press it today.

Just like any New Year, including Hijrah new year of course, I will come up with some sort of resolution to be aimed at. 2009's resolution was a success =). Alhamdulillah. But since 2010 is like a special year to me, I want to make something else as well.

Therefore, for this occasion, I have announced a self-inspired-changes-for-a-better-life project called Project Hatachi! So, unlike the 2010 resolutions, this project contents will have a permanent impact on me. Insyaallah.

So, begin with this year's resolution =)
(drum rolls...)
1) Get at least A- for all my subjects in the second semester. The time has come to get rid of the Bs.

2) Finish 2010 diary dammit! Lots of blank for the last 2 years.

Then the hatachi project... I'll just put some summary. It kind of personal actually, and there is no benefit for anyone else to know them =)

1) Anonymousization of me in the internet.
2) Control the way anime impacts my life for the next 10 years.
(Note: Not getting rid of it, for those who care)
3) Time to get involved practically with something I've been waiting for so long; Computer Science.
4) Memorize some more Surahs.

First semester ended... Choices?

Alhamdulillah, yokattane~

The final exam was really spicy. Delicious and spicy. XD

Just now I checked up icputoday, glad to find many kinds of reaction from former ICPU student regarding their choice and experience before coming to Canada. I still feel something's missing though, I would be happy to hear some news from those xICPU who stay at Malaysia, about how they are doing.

I've certainly gone through all those choices that people had to make. In summary for what will be written below, I think the hardest choice I had to make was after SPM.

Reflecting back, it was quite a journey I've had. Starting from pre-school at St. Franchis kindergarden, to SK St. Stephen Bau primary school, then to SM Sains Kuching secondary school, then to Taylor's College, and here I am, at the very next stage at University of Alberta studying Engineering.

I remember, after SPM was the real critical moment where I had to acknowledge all my available options to the future, the "should I go here, or there, or there?" kinds of thing. I had a big dream which was... urm nah, I don't want to tell. But one way to achieve at least part of my dream is to be an engineer, no not really. Any professional job would do. Doctor, lawyer etc. I wanted to be doctor actually, but for the idea of being a 'doctor' I had those day made me feel like they are less likely to be free in the future. I remember one time when my cousin told me that no one among us cousins are going for a doctor profession, and with me going for engineer, what he said are definitely true. Ahaha, so sorry, warukattane~.

Form 2 or Form 3, I'm not quite sure but around those, was the time when I decided that I should choose MECHANICAL engineer. Ahaha! There is this little person who came to my school to give some talk about job. While I was thinking that it was just another useless program organized by the school, I'm glad that I actually pay attention to his speech. So, I took a while to get some information about being an engineer and yes! It will do. Engineering as stepping stone... is my plan. =)

Back to the story, so I knew I should go into engineering, but which one should I choose? I said to myself. There was one time after SPM when I gave up looking for right choice. That is the sort of low-will-powered guy I was. XD So I just pretend I don't know anything and sit at home playing games like an idiot. But then there is this one guy, whom my father is working under, talked to me one time. I forget what the he said XD, but I remember the feeling. Do you ever feel being at lost and someone goes to you(in contrast to you search for them) and say, "that way". It was certainly cheating in one kind of perspective, but somehow I was deeply motivated. I'm so grateful for that, alhamdulillah. Ahah!, there I goes, picked MARA.

Picking universities was lesser much of deal I should say. Because among all those choices that I have, whichever I pick, I certainly know the right junctions afterward. Why UofA?

There are reasons but not related to this post, haha.

Whatever they are, I'm very grateful to live a wonderful life. Alhamdulillah.
Looking forward to 5 years ahead.

Resident Evil 5

Yay! Capcom did it again!

They have just released Resident Evil 5 for PC. Since I have been a fan the resident evil series... (started with 4 actually, so I don't mind if I'm not being acknowledged as pure fan), I can't help but dXXXXXXX it right away! Haha!
So now it's perfect. Last year a post of Capcom's Devil May Cry 4, this year; today, with RE5.

Bear with a lil prologue;

Well, I have an exam on the next few days so I didn't bother finishing it. ah... de ja vu....

(well de ja vu coz, my previous post also sounds something similar; "I have more important thing to do so I'll leave it for now")

Although I changed laptop already, it is still under entertainment category, not gaming laptop. I could have opt for the latter, but... 'Shahro budget 2009-2010' forbids and reviews for the cheapest gaming laptop in my area claimed that it couldn't last longer than 4 hours which'll be my concern for next few years.

In summary, I doubted it can let RE5 run smoothly. The PS3/xbox360 version looked sooo intense in graphics compared to DMC4. I just hoped that since DMC4 is playable at above 60 fps with high quality turned on, this one can get at least above 40fps.

So, with that in mind, I installed.

So after installation, which eaten up 8GB of my disk space, I searched for the Readme.txt and looked for the min requirement. I didn't run it, just to create some suspense atmosphere to myself. XD

Minimum System Requirements

Compared each of those with my pc and then I said the following...
"WHAT??"

Ahaha, my PC passed all of them XDXD. Well, I expected the readme would sounds something like that aha! In fact, I predicted future game spec requirement b4 picking my battery-eco laptop so that it can 'at least make those famous games titles playable'. Ah that's not the point here. I was still hoping for the fps value.

I ran the game =)... Upon clicking the 'Press any key to start', I can hear the nostalgic evil-like pronounciation of "Resident Eviiiillll.. Fiiiiiveeeee!!!" Ahaha. Before this it was " Resident Eviiiil..... fouuuurrrr!!!" XDXD

And yeah! I love it, Capcom maintained the trend by putting an option to test PC performance, but this time there are 2 sub-option; variable and fixed. I think the variable option is more similar to DMC4's PC test, so I used that, so that I can compare. The result:

Another PS3 game is playable on my PC!!! Although with the minimum resolution, it manage to get the above 60 fps average with overall medium quality turned on. Yay!

Alas, now I have something to play during the holiday-to-come =).

Last year, I managed to completely finish DMC4 and unlocked ALL the modes by myself without any cheat/trainer,(Yeah, including the Hell to Hell and 101 Lvl Bloody Palace, but sadly not as skillfull as those people on youtube =(... ) . However I'm not sure about this one... This one has the fear element. I hate the unpredictables monster!Last time with RE4, I cheated to get through all the stages so that I know enemy's location and stuff before playing it for the second time. That way I won't be shaking my hand playing, ahaha.

About completely finishing the game; In DMC4, you just exchange/unlock a combos, then you can use it limited to your will. But RE4, sigh*... you can buy/unlock new weapon but the amount of ammo you have depends on how many you gathered,... and stronger weapon usually requires different and rarer ammo.
SO HOW DO YOU EXPECT YOU CAN HAVE FUN KILLING ZOMBIES??? RE requires you to CONSERVE ammo!!!

Whatever, let just see what RE5 has to offer. Maybe something new I'll be interested at? Ahaha.

First experience w/ Win7

Ah, the title can't be any more direct can it? XD

OK!
So on the last weekend, I finally received my Win7 upgrade kit sent by people from Dell, containing an instruction booklet, an Upgrade Assistance DVD and a Windows 7 OS installer DVD.

I was... very excited XD

However, I got some assignments to be done that night, so I don't dare to do the installation immediately. I ran the upgrade 2 days later.

Romaji: Windows 7 he no appugure-do.

Now to the process part.
Basically, I knew that that the Upgrade Assistance DVD won't help much, but I just run it... for the sake of completeness. So I insert the DVD, run the autoplay exe... It backed up some settings from my existing Dell applications, see which program that will not be compatible for the upgrade, remove any software temporarily.... etc etc.

*I could skip the Upgrade Assistance because I know which driver should be installed on my dell. If you can't recognize which one you should use among the many that are listed on your manufacturer's website, my advice, RUN the Upgrade Assistance. Yeah, w7 also has the drivers built in, but they are generic. Your devices won't perform at theirs top notch without the real driver.
...and the Upgrade Assistance DVD apparently (I think) created another partition (coz I see a new partition listed on my machine during OS installation) on your hard disk to store the back up files... since of course, they cant be written on the DVD.

After all the backups, I removed the Upgrade Assistance DVD, and insert the OS installer. I restarted, boot from DVD instead of HD... and walla...
If you have tried installing a vista on any machine, you will know that the interface is similar. I think MS will keep this interface as their trend starting from Vista.
Not much to show, so not much to say either... I finished the installation and introduced to the new GUI =)
Whoa I can't express how much I love the new taskbar. Oh yes, I had to reinsert the Upgrade Assistance DVD back and it restores updated version of my previous drivers on vista.

That's it, everything's done in around... 3 hours.The only things left are... reinstalling all my applications =.=.... which takes 1 whole day if done continuously.

Like I said in Facebook, that night, I bid my farewell to Vista,

The taskbar has done all the jobs. Things look spacier. I thing I can live without clicking the Start Orb at all =)

I don't plan to customize it further for now =)

The little Dell Dock at the bottom is exceptional, because it is provided by Dell. =)

So in conclusion, despite my various hates toward those big companies, thank you for sending me the kit =)

Late for class

As the title said... today I had to rush to the my first class of the day. Ahaha... past 2 days were holidays, so I carried the 'oversleep' XD... not to mention I missed fajr as well -.-... wry... wry... dam wried

But one thing suddenly come across my mind...

Why in the world that... whenever I oversleep,... it has to be 15 minutes late???
Yea, the same thing happened before...... Its like... de ja vu in application every time.

Why can't I.... be waken up late say for example... ON the time the class start for ONCE???

But still, thankfully, I never yet so far missed any class due to oversleep =D... Perhaps this has something to do with Dualism as talked by Rene Descartes which says that mind and body are two different entities... and in my case... my mind was well enough to know my schedule even when I'm sleeping.... Ahaha... Ah well... I don't trust these guys that much just because their name appear in the book... but you know~ marks are marks...
Oh crap~

Then.... I also notice that.... ahaha.. as I previously noticed =D... that my alarm clock become more ineffective as I set multiple time set to wake me up....
I getting more dependent on a feeling of "I can turn this off for now and take a little short nap... and it won't be a problem since it'll sounds again."
... and the consequences... should be well known already =D...

The smell of food coming from kitchen is getting stronger... ahaha. My roomate seems to trying a new recipe I think..... OK... I'll leave this for now...

I love to say that the exam questions are pathetic.... but I can't because they aren't...
Its me who is...

I hate it... but I can't help it now. It seems that I've got some marks need to be recovered in the future... luckily they ARE in the range of 'recoverable marks'.

I wonder what else is wrong... I've even sacrificed a few hobbies... my scheduling is also getting better...

.. and even thought of deleting my internet social networks accounts. (which I won't... for now)

Aniway, now I want to finish up my caffeine effect, so, here is something that doesn't worth reading.

-I heard from some seniors back then about this thing called 'momentum to study' which usually not enough in the early year. I hate that theory. Truely hate it... Why people have to admit something like that? For me, the subjects that I'm learning now is all what I'm looking for...

-Then I also heard people back then says that we tend to forget more as we get older. Crap... I'm not old yet...

-My psycho prof told us that we tend to remember things with more cues around us... Ahaha... not sure about that... i rarely do exam at the same place I studied. Oh! except during primary school, which I didn't care studying at home at all, so studied at class, and since the class is also the exam hall, I did my exam there. Primary school... nah, invalid, too far back.

Okay... so I have eliminated those 3 excuses.... anything else for me to reflect?

-Sleep late at night... nope. It doesn't affect me in the day so far... And I only sleep late if I got some work to be done. Eh, isn't that not okay? ~

LoL! I just remembered something while randomly playing mp3s from my computer.

Today's very short story is about my ex-roomate at Casa Subang, Zuhair! Yo! Wadcha doing? =D
Basically it's about his alarm clock. Well, it's a phone, so alarm phone sounds ok too.

I remember... it's still dark in the room. So quiet that even the whisper of wind can enter my dream. Our house is at the 21st floor, so it's not unlikely to happen =D
Sleeping is never better without being at your own bed, with your own pillow. Ahaha!

Very very suddenly.. the mouth of his SE phone will start singing this lil song by Yui- Life from Bleach.

then around 20 second passed... it stops. Ahaha! A relief for those who noticed. That is the first round. Continuation of dream is still possible =D

Then.. again, "Kowagari wa umare tsuki ...Hi no atari basho ni dete ...Ryoute wo hirogete mita nara
Ano sora koete yukeru ka na" well, something like that, and the volume keep increasing! That's when I learnt the meaning of snooze =D. Ahaha

then it stops again... Not relieving coz I know it will sing again! Unfortunately, the song is quite catchy that I feel it's ok to sleep back. Hear it one more time won't hurt =D I'm a J-Pop fan afterall. So, went back kissing my pillow. Urgh! Can't continue dream. Already disconnected.

So, it repeats for a few time until 6am if we are lucky, 6.30am if we r not. Sometimes a living alarm clock will also appear to wake us up. Ahaha!! [Updated Sept 25]

So that's among the early months at Taylor's =D. After that, I get myself a software so that my PC can shout in the morning as well, yeah... the more the merrier.

Limiters

I always have this so called limiters on.

It brought me here.

It is ironic though, how limits' existence can reveal things beyond boundaries.
Yes, without limit, you won't know where is your boundaries.
Maybe some would argue that they don't have boundary at all hence they have no limits.

...Ignore the 2 previous lines... that came out from nowhere, but I typed it for the record.

From there I know what my boundaries are, then it is up to me whether I should exceed it or not.

In other word, it is when "Yes" or "No" shows up in front of you; the decision.
O, it is getting more specific now.

Ignore the previous line.

It's not something anyone would notice in themselves. "Yes" simply chosen for them, even without them realizing it. That's how people without limiters are. Same goes for "No".
Now to my point.

I said that I have this so called limiters on.

Brought me here.

I wonder who provided this "Yes" or "No" options.

I feel sad when I think about how many choice that I've made, but I rarely think about that.

Okayz..

A day has passed since my last final exam. So, today, surrounded by feeling of loneliness (coz almost all of my housemate are gone, enjoying themselves perhaps), I open my cupboard and think whether if I should start packing things early.

Ah! This is not a sad story btw =.=. It suppose to be funny, personally =D

"I wonder if I can bring all these into flight".

With that in mind, I separate all the pieces of papers, leaflets, boxes, envelopes, and those stuffs that I don't thing I should fit into my bag.

I gather my folios, some hardwares, mini bags at one place, juz in case I could donate them =D

I placed some clothes into a plastic bag so I'd know which one I should wash later on.

I was removing junks that I accumulate on the top shelves,

... when suddenly,

I found a large envelope of my X-RAY.

Well, that envelope doesn't give me any interest at all, not to mention the x-ray piece itself. That thing looks scary. -.- What distracted my eyes was...

... pieces of fullscape papers (or TEST PAD in English =.=) along with the x-ray piece.

So, I wonder what kind of paper could that be? Was it a note from doctor about my health condition that I was unaware of? Ahaha, well, I did thought of that for real. XD

Opened it, had some read on it, scanned, skipped some, skimmed, analyzed back, turn it over and over, checked the envelope to make sure there is no more, and to my surprise, I found out that it is a little ermm, to make it sounds grand, i'll call it CHRONO MANUSCRIPT! made by me upon entering Taylor's College. Hahax.

The story behind is this; As usual, after months of holiday, my handwriting will be dem sux. This is undoubtfully true after 11 years of schooling. Whenever the academic year begins, I will have some problems with writing. The nerve system always felt like misled. My fingers were used to the vertical downward motion when pressing the keyboard, rather than the curvy unlinear rotating maneuver XD.

...now that I mention it, I can scarcely remember that feeling, before my first day of college. Urgh.

So here they are, on my hands. Its a bit peculiar I admit =.= but still, its epic interesting to find something I did before entering the college, juz right after it ends. Ah! Is it fate that is reminding me to keep my writing polished for the upcoming holiday? Whoa! Cool!
Btw...Yes, it is a few pieces of papers where I practiced my handwriting on.

It's funny, personally, to read how my mind was back then. XD You can find them below. Just click on them to enlarge =D They are sort of craps by the way. I doubt you will learn anything academic from it. Hahax. 3 page in total.

Almost wordless. But I feel like writing something.

While I'm very well know how I'm feeling right now, but I can't directly transfer it into words.
Too happy would be too overly simplified. Mentioning that it is also because of some sad feeling came along is not enough.

Too quote a few other fan

I'll be frank, this all come from a series called C|annad ~After Story~.

I would say, after finishing the series, that witnessing the story is a very great blessing!!

I don't want to describe, since I scare wrong choice of words would give different impression of it. A few things for sure, the series pulls you more toward the meaning of friendship and family. It is a bit too much of fiction but if you watched Kanon 2006 or Air TV, you should know what I mean =D. But Clannad is definitely the best, "Saigo Made!"

My 2 years of collecting the series worth it! Yay! My emotions are telling me to buy the DVDs right away. ARGH! I want the gifts!!!

What I mean by charm here is not an attribute as in "she is charming~". No
It is the charm which refers to words or ojects that is believed to have magic power.(Oxford)

On the other day, I read this one book and went into a scene where a character asking the other character this questions.
"Do you believe in charm?"

...and as expected he answered.
"No, that's ridiculous"

In fact, I've encountered many similar scene as above, in internet fictions, movies, and J-sources. Not necessaryly in the form of words though. Some appear in the form of Talisman. A common storyline will show something like this;
~
Before a hero goes into a life or death battle, the heroine will give him some sort of [object/words] to be hold, or to be kept as sign of good luck.
Then, in the battle, as the hero comes into the intense situation or in the verge of defeat, he is reminded of the [object/words] thoughtfully, have a deep insight on the heroine's trust on him, blablabla,
then he is back with more courage or in lame cases, new power to win the battle
~
This is what we call as plot device.

Now back to my 'craps'.
Erm, sincerely, I prefer to call this a message to my friends, but oh well

I do BELIEVE in charms in term of words. I have actually acknowledged its existence since the beginning of 2005, the year of PMR.

It is a charm that WORKS! You can spit it out anytime, anywhere, and you will see INSTANTANEOUS effect! You don't have to prepare any kind of ritual for it. Heh!

I'll present some of them in the form of common conversations in class. The Charm itself is highlighted in Red.

well.. there are many other similar charms. They are actually easy to be identified. Basically, they are sentences that conclude your uneasy situations.

Therefore... if you think you haven't play too much yet, or miss enough lessons in class, remember these Charms! Like I said, they works INSTANTANEOUSLY!
You'll see your mark drops in the next exam.

However, it can't be denied that there are other type of charms that can't go along with those mentioned above. I call them X-Charms.

These X-Charms could be embedded into above conversations as well. I'll highlight them in Green.

These X-Charms, as oppose to the normal charms, brings the value of humbleness and curiosity of how to resolve the uneasy situation.

If you are not aware of these things in your talks, the effect of the normal charms might be reduced or worse, reversed!!!! Yes, there are also people who only practice the X charms. So please be aware.

Before I start to comment with regard to the situation, I would like to say that, I'm very impressed with the design of this car. *stare

First of all, obviously it is not mine. Secondly, this is not new thing. I'm the one who lagged behind I admit. It didn't even being shown in their feeds!!! Arrghh!!

KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysian police has bought 25 high-powered Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution cars to catch criminals and speed hogs.The cars, worth several millions of ringgit, would be fitted with safety gadgets and would sport the looks of police patrol cars.

Sources said the police had already taken possession and were testing the cars before sending them to the Road Transport Department for registration and approval.

“The cars are to be used in high-speed car chase, especially in cases of carjacking, kidnapping and hijacking.

“The speed of the cars would enable the police to catch up with criminals who often used modified turbo charged cars to escape,” they said.

Several police personnel have been sent to undergo intensive driving classes to ensure they are able to handle the super charged cars, they added.

The cars, they said, would also be used by the highway patrol unit to monitor speed hogs or illegal racers.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan confirmed the purchase but declined to elaborate.

As a son of someone who keep the roads a safe place, this is what I THINK. I'll say them in a simple way.

Generally it is GOOD!

It in a way elevates the image of local police toward the citizens.

Just like the article, I agree that it matches our police operational conducts with current tactics of road criminals.

For me, it is like another sign of how our police are turning from supression to oppression toward the criminals. (Provided that they fully utilise the cars). Well, for this one, sadly those police are likely to be challenged by criminals as well since we are starting to have drifter on the streets.

I don't know if it would be a disgrace toward local car manufacturers as claimed by certain people or not. It should be noted that they don't manufacture sport cars in the first place. So, there shouldn't be any case like that. Like my teacher once said, "be humble". It is better not to think so highly to ourselves until not accepting what others might have to offer.

I won't say something like "the old folks aren't suited for those things", of course. Like the PPSMI students, there are new generations being raised in the security forces as well. I'm looking forward into that. Hei! I'm being optimistic here!

BUT then,

It is TOTALLY a matter of how those cars are used. Nothing much about money. (Maybe for the government, it is similar to how I feel when buying 25 piece of Ferrero Rochers, I dont know XD)

Which makes me to some degree similar to other critics,... I would like to see how number of criminals can be decreased with those purchase.

I certainly heard about a statistic saying that average Malaysian reads 1 book every year.
I'm not sure when, but the time I heard that, a form of 'resist' developed inside me which asking me to prove that to be wrong.

That sure would happen to anyone, doesn't it?
But then, I don't like the idea of reading just to prove some lame statistics to be wrong. LoL.

Prologue ends =D

It is Saturday! This morning, I had a very nice long sleep for the week. Who don't like sleeping? Tell me.
I woke up finding that my housemate seems so... restless? That's a good adjective. Ahahaha! I knew it would become like this, so I hurried to tidy up my room n go to bath.
I spend a couple of minutes later to hear a story of how 6 hours of a day are spent easily.

"Take it easy! Is that worth telling?"

It is actually the night before when my mentioned housemate suggested KLCC to find our books for our English class. Yes, the '6 hours story' is in fact refering to the time my mentioned housemate waited for me.
After we had our 'breakfast', we set our steps to KLCC and this of course by travelling through a series of bus, KTM, and LRT.
About the English class, our teachers has assigned us to find a novels to be criticiced on. Ahaha! I love criticicing! That's what I've been doing all along these years! Critics n critics.

KLCC meanwhile is our final destination since all branches of Popular and MPH bookstore no longer have the books we wanted. I never thought of how nice it is the bookstore at KLCC, but I do regret not knowing it earlier.
Once we arrived at KLCC, we head to the bookstore, led by the same 'outsider' during my birthday mini-party. =D

The place is... Kinokuniya Bookstore. If I jump to conclusion, I would say, "I would like to work there as part-time job right away", but not yet. Oh I just did? lol nvm.

It sounds like a japanese bookstore to me. One thing for certain, there is no Malay material in there... at all! There are 2 ATM-like machine to search books, and it gives out a map to locate the book within the bookstore, just like how ATM machine gives out receipt.
Among the books available are... English, Japanese, Chinese.. and one more language which I can't read = =. Korean perhaps?

HOw should I say... there have no other nicer bookstore I've been before. I can name any novel that I remember in my head, and they appeared, most of the times at least.
Well, I did wonder whether it is becoz they hav no one to buy them XD. But that doesn't seems to be the case.

So, I chose the book that I've wanted so long. Memoir of a Geisha. It's a COOL story abt a profession called Geisha in past time Japan. Almost Cinderella-like, except more dramatic.
Well, that's what I've been told =D.
It has sooo many pages which is soo NICE! I can spend long time to read it. Too bad my English assignment is due a few weeks later = =.

Each of us got our own books it seems. Before we go back, I took note of some Japanese lesson book... hehe. Dont't wanna stop at just the LVl 4 Japanese Proficiency.

Top of my desk

As soon as I reached my room, I looked around to find my roommate already arrived. That's not the point anyway.
I suddenly felt what I called this 'MoonXcube-aura'. Ahaha. Well, it simply means I have the urge to tidy up my room.
Urm.. that's a few days ago. I ended up not doing anything coz I had to go out to buy necessities.

It's not really a significant matter, but I think I should include it to give the atmosphere of the surrounding.
So, today I had the free time to do it =D. I think I should also mention that my so-called 'moonXcube-aura' is actually refering to arranging the whole room.
However since part of the room belongs to my roommate, so the urge is limited to my desk = =.
I would also call this post as "Chronicle of my Desk", but you know, it's lame. Ahaha.

This is when the fun begins.

Last semester... I don't think I used my desk that much. I often found in the living room with my laptop reaching for wi-fi signal.
Our wifi signal is pretty bad, not to mention that it always broke. Piff. Back to the topic. My desk was always filled with piles of textbooks n mangas.
I didn't even use the book shelf provided, coz I think it is annoying process to reach it everytime I need to use some books,... too high.

So, since I won't be needing to move my laptop that often anymore, I guess putting it on that desk would be good.
BUt then the books... I guess I should assume that I've grown a bit taller this year to reach the shelf easily =D.

So, I removed all the books n Files n put them up on the shelf, then placed my lappy on the desk.
One problem rose... no place to do my revision. I don't think it is a good idea to place my books on the laptop itself...
In my mooncube, I could easily pull the keyboard platform to put my books on it.

Found the solution, but it require a painful sacrifice of other aspect though. I did suffered from the sight for a few days, but I'm used to it now, ahhaha.
Else, it would give me a lot of benefit. Among the one I should mention is...

Comfort-wise
*no light reflection from the window.
*space for putting my books for revision/hw.

Privacy-wise
*I can see the reflection of people coming into my room through my LCD screen.[a few people busted =D]
*My head probably will block my lappy screen if anyone try to sneek from outside.

Efficient-wise
*My lappy gets the full blow from the fan when I don't need it =D

Purpose-wise
*My portable speaker can be placed right in front of me which serve its stereo purpose =D.
*My lappy USB ports are at the left side, so no wall obstacle.

So, that's my final configuration =D. I loves it. The benefits defeat the symmetryness I need =D.

I spent the day just like normal days. It actualy could have been merrier if I went somewhere 'cool' to enjoy myself but I can't. School starts tomorrow. So, I just hinted my housemate + 1 outsider(who unintentionally [probably]) stops at my house to refrain from having dinner.

Well yea, expectedly, most of them understand well the meaning of my 'refrain'. So, I didn't bother them much after that hopefully they forgotten. XDXD. I wondered to my room, looking for something that doesn't exist, then turned my laptop on to check my OUAC, and let it defrag itself while setting my WlM status as Away.

I went to Damai via Putra LRT to meet my cousin, Abg Ajib who was willing to fetch me to Menara TM. This could be the first unique birthday in my life, being at one of my idol business company. Seriously! I love the inner wall of the Celcom Service Centre! It's just so... mooncubic inspiring. COOL! Blue! Kichiri Kachiri! Ironically,... my purpose was actually to terminate my celcom postpaid account. Haha.

After lunch, which was a treat by my cousing (thx! GARRRRField), I went to The Summit for a while to shoot some zombies at the arcade, had a few pwnage of ice-cream and before I realized it, the sun has set.

I'm back... ah!... Apparently they had an amazingly good memory. LoL. Including the 1 outsider. Yea lol.
So, I headed back to my room, turned off my laptop, then together we went to Mydin's KFC.

Actually I don't really care about celebrating my birthday. I'm not pretty sure what do they mean by "celebrate" but I remember telling my parents a few years back to don't bother getting a cake watsoever. Well, of course, after being accustomed to cake, I did felt a lil suffer from mental hunger for the next few years birthday... thx to my so called 'brave' act = =. Anyway, I do mean it, I don't care much.

Except one thing,

I really do appreciate people who take note. It is quite a biassed statement, I'm sorry, but I can't help expressing it. I don't think I'll ever forget you people. I might not have said this to each one of you, THANK YOU!

[ps: I can have a lot of LED and Bulbs to turn off... rather than blowing candles. What so superstitiuos about that anyway?)

Last Saturday a bunch of people of X-Gen held up a mini-reunion (that's what it should be called I believe =D) at Sarawak Plaza. Eh no, to be exact, at Hartz Chicken Buffet.

I know there are a lot of VIP missing =D. For those who weren't there don't worry, I'm sure we will be able to meet again sometime in the future =D. We miss you all =D.

Firstly, I'm sorry if this post offends anyone =D.

I regret that Yahoo is included in the list. But apparently, it can't be denied that from what normal end-user(like me) can see, all of the necessary service we need (e-mail, web-hosting, search engine, web translator, social sites, etc) are also greatly promoted by other websites, and some more, they are free. I do use Yahoo!Ask several times and it is indeed usefull. For several times, I also used Yahoo!Geocities for the free domain they offer; sufficient for my college presentations.

During their early days... my child mind compared a better free email provider between those two. Yahoo! or Hotmail. Does by signing up the former will make me feel happy? That's lame.. the latter also doesn't seems convincing... Hot? Why not Cool instead? So, I registered with other no-longer existing mail provider such as doraemon, dingdong. I was a child, not to be blamed. But then, my need risen into requiring it to work with e-mail application such as Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express. It appeared that Hotmail is the only free HTTP email that supports back then. So... why not...

But you know what... there is another factor that made me prefer everything-else-except Yahoo!. I declared it when I was primary 5(2001)... ~~I dont like YELLOW alone = =.~~ ~~For this,~~ I ~~also~~ hate all those yellow emoticons. I nvr used any during chatting to begin with, not even in forum. If I remember correctly, before the appearance of pop-ups blocker, it was very annoying to see various pop-up advertisement especially about Custom Icon, Custom Emoticons... they made the yellow guy looks very ugly.Full stop

I don't mind migrating, as how I was able to migrate from nVidia to Ati =D. It is Green to Red in term of colour anyway. I thought I hate red ~~too~~ back then. Ahaha! But, image comes first!

Out of nowhere, my interest has been very deep into the PSP3000 lately, ほんとうに.
It's time for getting access to black market. After all, my first semester has finished =D.
Yes, I'm aware that the third PSP is not flexible enough to run homebrew softwares =D.
For me... that's good... for 2 reasons.
1) LESS supporting warez product. I still can't utterly get away from it, lolz. I'm not super duper rich you know, ほんとうに.
2) LESS games to be entertained =D. I wont be much bothered to play my previous GBA/PS1 games on it. Haha... ほんとうに.

Four days ago, I learned a new thing about Streamyx. They has a fair-usage policy in which the connection of the people who download torrents are capped. This is true. I confirmed it myself! In fact, I have realized it earlier! Muahaha! Check out this site!

According to an article created by a frustrated Malaysian (because of his internet service, I believe), he said that Streamyx caps the torrent connection down to 10kBps. Personally, I think the capping is variable rather than fixed at 10kBps. Aha. Coz last time I download a fresh torrent, the speed was at 20++kps average. I'm just using 512kbps Streamyx package, so my experiment has flaw =D. But it could be true.

I'm not sure whether Streamyx just limit the torrent download speed or the whole IP connection, but I believe it is the latter.

Then...

In the past few hours, I went to The Summit for dinner. Eventually, I came across a magic shop. To make long story short, I bought a 'magic power' for RM30. Muahaha... ほんとうに.

Then...

In the next few hours, I'm going to Low Yatt (again!) to check out some new stuff. A few things that I want to look at are... my laptop battery, some compact cameras, PSP, as well as some handphones. Just window-shopping, haha. No money actually... ほんとうに.

Terry Fox Run KL 2008 - I'm in!

A bit of history behind Terry Fox.

Terry Fox is a Canadian who at the age of 18, was told that his right leg had to be amputated above the knee as a result of bone cancer.
During this crucial period, Terry saw the intense pain and despair of other cancer victims and was deeply moved. In order to raise funds for cancer research, he decided to run across Canada asking for donations.

Although he had to use an artificial right leg, his determination to raise the fund lead him to run from the very west to the very east of Canada. Can you imagine that? The route is across more than 5 province... and each province is more than twice as large as Malaysia!

This became ‘The Marathon of Hope’. Terry Fox died before he could complete his crusade, but his legacy is carried in the hearts of all who participate or donate to the Terry Fox Run each year around the world.

Terry Fox is a symbol of inspiration of all Canadian.

So....

This coming Sunday (2 November 2008), which is the day after tomorrow, there will be a Terry Fox run at KL.
The starting point will be at Tasik Perdana. There is no registration required. Participants are required to be there before 9 am.
There are 2 route that can be taken. One route is 5km and another one is 7km.

Donation can be done by purchasing a limited edition Terry Fox shirt for RM25.00.

Any inquiries about the event can be directed to organizer@terryfoxrunkl.org.

This event came to my senses via my lecturer. Well, since our lecturers are mostly from Canada, of course they won't miss something like this, hence promoting it to their students.
I felt quite touched upon hearing the story of Terry Fox. Some more, one of my senior lecturer had witnessed Terry Fox in his epic run. I feel quite bad to not joining in honoring Terry's effort. To be exact, it is his effort to help in the funding for the cancer research.

So,

New NFS!!

Just in case you are not aware, EA will launch their next installment of the Need For Speed series on November 18. The title is... Need For Speed - Undercover. =D

This new installment is particularly based on our all-time favourite game - Need For Speed Most Wanted. There are cops, helicopters, new world to be explored as usual,... and the cars that can be damaged just like in Prostreet.

Maybe the difference this time is, there are missions that will be given to you, such as going to somewhere to pick up something, send it to somewhere else... etc.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention... just like Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, now you can be the cop! You can be the one who make people get busted XD.

...well, to be exact, AN RPG GAME
related to my lunarness... a lot

Do you aware of a series called Star Ocean? I don't mind if you dont, but at least aware that I do.

A few years back I played this thing called Star Ocean - The Second Story for PS. The story is awesome!! An anime titled Star Ocean Ex also has been made as an adaptation to this game.

Hrmm, of course all fantasy-genred games are great, but this one is different. During that time, I prefer this type of RPG for its real time battle system which is in contrast with a pokemon-like battle system in you-know-which game =D.

That time is that time. Although the you-know-which game has improved da%n a lot now, I still keep up with my Star Ocean =D I have sense of loyalty too, just for you to know =D.

In SOex, the ending theme song was sort of among the 'first wave' of Jpop songs that have hit me, hence introducing me to Jpop genre. =D

Still related to Soex, the ending animation shows three moon revolving the place. The way they emphasize that moon in that scene is so COOOOOOOOL!(... to me of that period, lol)

Just like Rockman series with their adventure-techno-like music, this series also brings along its own style of music which is more time-space-like and toward-the-future-like. LoL. It is also Cool really =D

The most important thing here is... The main character, Rena has a Crescent Hairpin!! Its soooo COOOOOOOOOOL! I like it =D Where else you can find a girl who wears a crescent moon clip?

The main point here is.... it is unique. Oh yes, one more thing... the Star Ocean titles, logo, design, web sites, game menu...some main character's hair are emphasizing on the BLUE COLOUR!! THAT'S SMOKING STYLE!!!!! MUAHAHAHA!!! =D =D (lol? y should I be laughing? XD)

So, that's the introduction of why I like the series... What makes me so excited today is because Square Enix has released a REMAKE of my favourite installment, Star Ocean 2 - The Second Story. Oh yes, this time with a new title, Star Ocean 2 - Second Evolution. Isn't life so fun??? =D=D

Since I've played it before, why should I show concern? No!!
There are a few reasons, in which among them are...

1) This time, they include some veryx3 COOL animated cut-scene, a truely remake compared to the anime version. PLUS!, the theme song for this game is FANTASTIC! A song called Start by Scandal.
2) Then, the voice actress for Rena this time is.... Mizuki Nana, which from what I've known her so far, she has performed the opening theme song for whole Nanoha series, who is also the voice actress for Hinata in Naruto, Fate in Nanoha series, Yuufa in Ragnarok Animation!!
3) Again, the storyline =D

... unfortunately... it is on PSP.

Ah! Not an obstacle at all. While waiting for the English version to come out, I'll start saving =D =D =D.

Unit 2102 Dark Trade

On last Thursday, we had our Unit test for the chapter Electrochemistry =D. The test is hard, but still manageable. =D If it is not hard, it wont be called as test anyway = =. Test are meant to be hard, Yeap!

And then, on the next day which is Friday, which is also yesterday(lol), we had our English 3U test for our knowledge in Shakespeare. Now, I see Shakespeare quite differently than the way I look at him before we get into our unit. He is simply... a freak. lol. No just kidding. Muahaha.

By finishing the 2 test, all of our subjects are finally in their last Unit.
Gambatte to all ICPU scholar.

Done with that.
So, today we decided to refresh our spirit and soul at The Summit.

Recently I bought a Oct 08 Chips magazine. It seems to be a monthly routine to buy 1 at MPH Bookstore at The Summit for me. XD. This month's release has an article that I've been looking for so long =D =D =D

Remember my post called Noob argue about Vista?

Chips has done the work for me =D. And surprisingly, their conclusion is very much similar to mine.

I wont go through all the test process in this post XD. You will have to buy the mag if you want to know. I'll just put their conclusion here.

"Even though it might sound astonishing, Vista wins hands down. The latest version of Windows comes out as the frontrunner, but only if one has a high speed computer and the latest hardware and software product. Even though the User Account Control can be annoying, with respect to security, the OS offers much more then its predecessor. My HyperMemory

Sorry, this has nothing to do with my brain watsoever. The HyperMemory simply refers to a technology developed by Ati in heir GPU to enhance mobility experience.

Erm... actually, I'm quite curious about my graphic card... It is Ati Mobility Radeon x2300 by the way.

Before scrolling any further, it is good to know that, there are 2 possible type of memory for any graphic processor.

1) Integrated/Shared Memory - You graphic processor will use your system RAM to store data. (ex. Intel Extreme/ Intel Extreme 2)
2) Dedicated memory - Your graphic processor has its own memory to store data. (ex. nVidia, Ati)

...and then, what is HyperMemory?
... From what I've learned so far, HyperMemory is a technology developed by Ati that expands the available dedicated memory in the graphic card by sharing memory from the system RAM.

My graphic card has HyperMemory technology, so in other words, it utilises both of the dedicated memory and some system RAM for graphic processing purpose.

HyperMemory = Dedicated memory + shared memory

The following is the report from Ati Control Centre and DxDiag, showing how much memory are used for graphic processing. It shows 895MB.
From the picture below, we know that my graphic card has 128MB dedicated memory on-board.

Simple math, calculate

894MB = 128MB + Shared Memory

Here's the big question...

DOES THAT MEANS, I HAVE 766MB OF Shared memory?????????????

Let say... now I have 2Gb of system RAM... So... All this while, Only Around 1.34Gb is available for my Vista???

I wont argue abt the HyperMemory, coz maybe because of it, Im able to play DMC4.
However, having less than 2Gb RAM for Vista is like, breeding a herd of cows in a house. LoL!

Thinking of an upgrade...

(p/s: nVidia's version of HyperMemory is called TurboCache, both company must have had a hard time before they came out with the very fancy name, didn't they? =D)
(p/s 2: Before I buy my laptop, mochiron-desu, I already surveyed a lot of sample product. But I noticed that, all the samples, even for the model that I bought, has only 3xxMB of Total Graphic Memory. I hope, my 894MB is fully used and not just a waste)

Devil May Cry 4

Today, I went to 'My Computer' (rofl) to find some new stuff. So, my eyes were attracted to this one little piece of DMC4 for PC. Curiously, I bought it and have it a try.

Before I do anything else... I went to the internet searching for the minimum system requirement to play it coz the DVD plastic cover didnt say anything. (You know what I mean by mentioning plastic =D). While I google for the info, I let the game install itself into my laptop. It is quite large... almost 8Gb I could say =D. Similar to HL2-Ep2.

So, I found something like this...

MINIMUM!
Processor: Pentium 4 3.0Ghz
Core 2 Duo 2.4Ghz
RAM: 512MB for XP, 1024MB for Vista
Graphic Processor: nVidia 6600 and equivalent.

So that's from the internet. After installation, I search for any 'Readme.txt' inside the installation folder and found this piece of information.

...more importantly... it is on my Core 2 Duo 2.0Ghz and Ati x2300, which are below the min requirement.
(well, of course, the fps is a bit low)

For me, it is unbelievable. Did the Shared Memory has something to do with this?
I have 8xxMB of Shared Memory if that is the case. I don't know, can someone explain?

So, now I'm playing a PS3 adapted game with my non-gamer laptop =D. Just tweak the setting a bit, and I'm playing in nice Frame per second =D... Here's the result using the game's performance test.

Rank C for average of above 30 fps. NOT BAD!

Ah! I need to get a better laptop cooler. From Cooler Master or Zalman perhaps?

The time now is... 5.20am... Friday =D. Woken up by Konata Izumi's Chala-Head-Chala, I went to the VALS site as pre-requisite for my BOH4M assignment. Since it has finished, that's y i create this post =D

I just realized something about how wireless networking works. Well, I totally mean about the wifi thingy. Erm.. apparently, I'll always lost my connection to the modem during the day, especially when alot of other lappies are also connected to it.
If I read the manual of my modem correctly(the one I have back home), it says, connections may be interupted by the signal from other computer. I looks more like, if there are other wifi devices around, there could be more interuptions. So, that might explain why during ping to www.google.com, 1 out of 4 packet that my lappy sent had lost.

Interestingly, the condition is totally different at night. I wonder if this is due to the cold air?

Nah, not caused by air I think. If air is included, in fact, the wave should be slower. Somemore, we are using a G-type modem, not the n-type, so the amplitude of the modem signal wont last that far aniway. =D

Continue... after midnight, I am able to get the signal perfectly complete. The speed is marvelous =D Yummy. The avg. rate of transfer I have so far at night is 167 kbps. I wonder what package did they gave us ==.

Lets do a calculation... =D

167 Kilobytes/s x 8 = 1336 Kilobits/s ~ 2Mbps package?

Anime Fest at Taylor's

Erm.. actually, this festival was held on the 14th of July, in my first few weeks in Taylor's College. During that time, our hostel wireless router was not available yet. So, I thought I might post them later, but somehow... ... ... I forgot.

Apparently, the students have the freedom to actually create a club. All they need (I dunno the real procedure, but I think I heard of this) are a supporting staff(lecturer?), and lotsa members.

So HERE IT IS!

Yes! We have ANIME club. They organized an Anime Festival on that day. It was held at the Multipurpose Hall(MPH) in the Main Campus. They had a bunch of thing, but the best thing is ofcourse... Cosplay.

The best first week in college eva?

I talked with the 'chief' of that club, he said, the club has a lot of activities and one of them is something that I am very familiar with... Making AMVs =D. Another one that pulled my interest is... they also play Stepmania using the anime themes as the songs!!!

I rmb, it was just a few months ago that I googled for Stepmania, deadly looking for the sources of songs and videos. However, my hope vanished when it says there "1xxMB"... per video. S@#t. I went to a pirated stuffs store looking for a bunch collection of Stepmania vids, but it wasn't there. 1xxMB isnt that many coz I've dled WoW TBC b4 which was approximately 7.3Gb. But time does matter... Wasting 2 days just for a dozen of vids? NO WAY!

However, I dont join that club due to a particular reason.
It's great but... Ive been in this kind of stuff for quite a long time already ='(.
I'm satisfied with my childhood life coz I behaved like a child. So, I'm thinking to do something different for the current stage of my life =D.

Phew!...

After a few daes of suffocating in the sea of waves, I finally able to get connected to the internet =D
Apparently, the problem came from the router itself (I knew it!). After 'curi-curi masuk' into the router room using one of my friend's spare key, we manage to restart the router and problem solved. (Shh..., will ya? =D)

During the "y=a sin x, a=0" period, we only managed to 'survive' using bits & pieces of signal from the lower floor. Ahaha.

Actually I have other thing that I planned a few daes ago to be included in this post, but somehow, I forgot...
I'll post again anytime soon as soon as I recover them =D

Caffeine

Today I was a bit astonished by one of my lecturer's statement that he do not drink coffee.
He said that coffee is like drugs.

Well, in fact. it is. Although I am aware of this, but he gave me an idea oh how bad coffee is... LoL... which ironically, after I decided to start my everyday life in college with a coffee.

Hmm, for me, it is a new benchmark on how do other people think about drinking coffee.
I consume it because I need to stay concentrate in class after hours of 'stay-ups' at night.

Well, after hearing that from the lecturer, I think...

I need to find a way to concentrate in class without having any caffeine product(coke included).

To do that, basically, I need to prolong my sleep hours.

To prolong my sleep hours means, I need to finish my work early.

To finish my work early means I need to start them early, logic right?

And to start them early... here comes the problem. ROFL.

For those who know me, wish me luck on overcoming the problem =D

Then, today we attended to a talk of 'Studying in Canada' for all ICPU students especially the Mara/JPA scholars.

That's the second.

This one is the best part =D I was told by my friend that we can claim the monthly allowance already. (for sponsored students only) It is in the form of a cheque. Well, if i heard it correctly, the amount seems to be covering the 2 months allowance, the college admission fee, and maybe still enough to cover all the pre-u books that I've bought. In short... It's A LOT!!. But since it is mostly covering what we have paid earlier, it won't make us any wealthier =D

That's the third, and the last. Okayz. Oyasuminasai.

Lately I feel a bit empty without doing some heavy photoshopping. (ROFL, is that a correct word?).

First... I did not bring my camera... so, i'm not able to take any good quality picture...

Secondly... No greenscreen...
Well, I did brought my blue school bed sheet from my previous school(haha!) just in case.. but then, i realized that there is another thing missing,

that is the third... lighting... the round pendaflour is just not enough =D. Flash from the camera alone would create a terrifying shadow of darkness which could leap into another dimension of space where time flows like the behaviour of the sea wave instead of a steady river. Nah

Sincerely, I want to get into the Computer Science course... but I didn't have the chance. Sob. And then... there seems to be no computer club here... But they do have Anime Club.. which unfortunately I'm trying to diverge myself away from... ermm... unless someone can prove me that it is worth entering =D.

Living in here actually gave me a lot of idea how to deal with photoshop, but I just dont have the time. So swt.

Oh ya! I forgot to mentioned that, I bought a laptop cushion and a laptop bag during the PC Fair =D. Just bought cheap one ler. As long as my laptop can withstand the resonance of my body. (another lol).

And then what else? Er....
Oh ya... just arounf 70 minutes earlier, I just passed up my English 1000 words essay via email to the lecturer. It is not really that significant, but I feel like telling it.

Mood for today? Bored coz too tired. Perhaps it is because of the drawback from consuming 'da*n-a-lot' of caffeine this morning. Plus finishing class at 6.

XP? Bleh, why building a small hut if your land can fit a house.
Well, in this case, the 'land' refers directly refers to my computer capabilities while XP = hut and Vista = house. LoL (yes, of course, you also need a lil more money for the house)

In conclusion, if your hardware requirement is good enough to run Vista, then GO FOR IT!
If your hardware component is good, it will run smoothly, you wont complaint, and that's the proof.

Otherwise, use XP then.

And then, noob often say something like "Vista is not compatible with some software"...
that is not really correct, and it is a really pure noob statement. The correct way to say it is, "Some software is not compatible with Vista". To elaborate, it's not the operating system that should be modified to suit the software, but instead, it is the software that should be improved to work on Vista.

Ah! Looks like I've been supporting Microsoft by creating this post. Maybe I'll put something about Mac in the future. That will keep the world in balance. LOL.
I just create this article to express my feeling toward people who keep saying "Vista is bad". Well, I also did say that before, but not now. It is important to note that, I do not say anything bad about XP either.

In conclusion... "XP is SUPERB, while Vista is a bit more ahead, it just needs support from the software designers".

PC Fair!!

Starting from this Friday, (tmr precisely) there will be a PC Fair at KL Convention Centre. I'm thinking of a way to go there ==.

Well, what should I buy?

Laptop hardware/software? Nope, I have upgraded everything possible before I come to KL. Except for Windows Vista ler. I'm still using the Home Premium. Well, even if I have the chance to upgrade, I'll think about the Vista Ultimate solely because of the Dynamic wallpaper & Full backup feature. Other than that, nah, no reason. The other feature just wasting my memory resources.

Erm.. digital cameras? Nah, not needed, lol. It is easier & much cheaper to borrow =D

Handphone? Well, I do think about it, but... nah... Laterz. I cant ensure a stable financial condition within the next 3 years yet. But if it is ok, then the option will automaticaly be available =D

Oh ya... I think I know....
A laptop backpack.... and a laptop cooler. I'm lacking of those. Laptop cooler isn't that pricey.. but the backpack... == I guess I need to do some price survey again.

Erm.. how shud I say this. So far, I did badly(at least in my own perspective) on my Leadership and English presentation. Why? Well... I'm not sure why... its kinda excuse if if I say my English also sux, but thats the truth. Well, I'm not giving up, looking forward for the next presentation.

Oh well, it looks like, they also like to stress on plagiarism a lot. That is something new for me. Citation oh citation. But, if it is my work that is being copied by people, of course I'll indeed go berserk. So, I guess they have a point in doing that.

The only subject that I'm very happy with so far is... weirdly Advance Function... where everyone else(probably) find it as boring. The second would be my Chemistry class. Woot! Is it a coincidence?

Yeah! It feels a lot different when you are being taught by foreign lecturer. Their way of seeing things are quite different. (In fact, non of my lecturers are Malaysian, ROFL). I love it when they start to crack up jokes in the middle of the lectures. Oh yes. One thing that I noticed during class is, they like to 'thumbs up'. Mostly it happens when they are concluding their lesson of the day. Everytime they do it, it feels like they unliterally saying "It's very easy right?".

Oh yes... It is worth to mention that, for all my classes( Management, Chemi, Adv.Func, English), I manage to find someone to be hated. Well, here it probably means, 'someone I must be better from'. Well, it is not too bad to be hated rite? Unpurposely, you are motivating someone else. Aha! So, for those who think they are the best in class, I HATE YOU! =D

Well, today, my house (hostel) became the dota spot. ROFL. Erm... that's all I want to say. =D
I'm interested with the game, but i don't want to join its gaming community this late. I should have started playing it a few years ago, but I was paying attention to RO back then. Well, I guess once a week isn't too bad for me to build up dota skills. With that, perhaps I could go to the level of calculating damage per second in a few more months, just like how I did with RO. I need GSP!!!

Well, now i have a lil prob doing my assignments. I actually can do it, but I cant put all my knowledge into it. I'm lacking of the 'medium'. For now, that particular medium is... the GSP.

If I want, I can easily get any pirated copies over the internet.... but you know... when we are talking about education, it cant be dealt that way. That is just WRONG. It's wrong because it is illegal. So, to make it legal, I need an original copies. However, since I cant afford the price of a GSP,
I need a sponsored version... and my previous school has it...

And somemore, I think I need to contact my +math teacher to guide on me using the GSP. What i'm needing right now is the tutorial on making a sketch of a function graph with the a,b, and c sliders. What kind of function? Its the forth polynomial series!!! Not the Linear(x), Quadratic(x^2), or Cubic(x^3), but the Quartic(x^4)!!!! Ow man... I don't want to screw anything up. I feel like wanna call the school right now, but today is Saturday... precisely, 1.53am Saturday. ROFLOL!

Ah! I've tried a few Java applet from the internet... but simply said... they are not that good. GSP could be much much better (provided that you know how to use it =_="). Since I was just a small kid, I was fascinated by a lot of 'high-tech' word such as synchro, fusion, velocity, and so on. And today, like a dream come true, my Chemistry class started the topic of Quantum number. "Quantum of photons", haha. Well... pretty much exciting of course. It has something to do with Erwin Schrodinger's atomic model that oppose Bohr's theory.

And something that comes to my mind during the class, almost everything that I learned about atom during high school seems to be 'made-for-easy-understanding'. It is not the real thing in life. An example would be the movement of electron in an atom. They don't have fixed path like I've seen in the previous textbook. In fact, there are the Uncertainty Principle regarding that matters. Well, I will need to do a research on my own about this. It is indeed interesting ^^.
